Quickest game in Marlins history darkens Cards playoff hopes

Chris Volstad's 1 hour and 52 minute 5 hit shutout of the Cardinals Monday was the quickest game in Marlins history. The loss keeps the Cards at least 6 games back of the Reds with less then 2 weeks to go.

Tyler Colvin: The newest edition to freak accidents

During a game yesterday Tyler Colvin of the Chicago Cubs was impaled on piece of broken bat while running the bases. The "Rookie of the Year" candidates season came to end as he was hospitalized afterword to prevent a collapsed lung. Now he joins a very long list of players who's time on the field was cut short. I'll take you back to a few.

In the mid-80's Wade Boggs hurt his back while removing his cowboy boots in a Toronto hotel. Randy Veres in 1995 was to tired to play after his hotel neighbors made to much noise and he punched a wall and hurt his hand. Wall punching also landed Royals pitcher John Bale on the DL. Chris Coughlan and Kendry  Morales suffered serious injuries this year in post game celebrations, Coughlan a blown knee and Morales a broken leg. Also this year a 15 year old Georgia teen died in a collision at 1st base. Baseball is a dangerous sport at times, hopefully Colvin will be back in full swing in March and maple bats will be discussed in December at the GM meetings.

In the Beginning

Hello all, you may call me Crumley. I will now be your personal voyeur into all things baseball on my new blog, Catch the Fever. I am from Kansas City so there will be plenty of content on the Kansas City Royals but there will also be plenty of content of all other teams as well and I will try my best to cover some minor league and college baseball for the super fan out there. But for now I just wanted to introduce myself.... My Name C.r. UM to the Ley..... Ok that was dumb but this blog isn't.
